Under adverse weather conditions in the region Friday evening, the power supply for the aluminium plant was out for almost four hours due to a technical fault, and Hydro is still investigating the cause of this.
Production of aluminium has now resumed, and efforts are ongoing to stabilize the production, which is still unstable.
Hydro is currently evaluating the potential consequences of the power outage. It is currently too early to estimate when full production will resume and what the resulting financial effects will be.
Hydro Årdal has an annual production of around 190 000 tonnes primary aluminium, employs around 500 people, and casts sheet ingots and primary foundry alloys.
