“I am honored to be elected Chair of European Aluminium,” said Ebbesberg, who is head of Hydro’s Rolled Products business area. “Our industry is facing challenges in Europe, particularly in the fields of trade and energy.

“However, challenges also represent opportunities for the European aluminium industry. We have already started to seize these opportunities by launching Initiatives for Change: the Sustainability Roadmap to 2025 and the Innovation Hub. I look forward to working together with our members to achieving the ambitious targets outlined in these initiatives.”

Ebbesberg has been vice-chair of European Aluminium since 2015. Roberta Niboli, CEO of the Italian company Raffmetal, has been appointed vice-chair for the 2017-2018 term. The appointments were made at the organization’s General Assembly October 26 in Antwerp, Belgium.

Ebbesberg is a member of the corporate management board of Hydro, and has worked for the company since 1996, including as chief financial officer for Metal Products, head of the Foundry Alloys unit and executive vice president of Metal Markets.
