In trendy Soho, a brand new modern building with aluminium façades from Building Systems is taking shape.
“The glass and aluminium façades will give the building a modern look that makes it stand out from most of the other buildings in this area, which have a more traditional style”, says Ugo Favaretto, leader of Building Systems’ project competence center in South-East Europe.
The building, which will be located at 180 Avenue of Americas (Sixth Avenue), close to Hudson Street, follows another Manhattan project in which Building Systems delivers the façade.
“This project is extremely challenging. For the first time we use a Wicona structural glazing curtain wall element in a roof application,” Favaretto says about the building now under construction at 35 West 15th Street.
The special system has been designed for this project in particular and will be installed in two months’ time.
“This project and the other spectacular projects we have done with Italian customers in strong cooperation with the Italian Wicona team in New York, will encourage us to look deeper into the possibilities of a stronger presence in New York and the U.S. In a time when U.S. business is improving and Europe still in trouble, such projects give pride and new energy for the whole organization,” says Building Systems President Lars Hauk Ringvold.
